WAM - Web Application Maker
Available in Español .
WAM was one of my favorite software projects at Tissat.
It was 2001-2002 and we were seeing more and more business projects – insurance, public administration and similar domains – that wanted to move online. Many came from Oracle Forms-style interfaces and needed complex web UIs at a time when IE6 was everywhere and modern UI frameworks did not exist yet.
So I built one.
WAM let us define UI components in a style similar to Swing components. Components could even be packaged in a .jar and reused across applications.
We used WAM in many company projects and it became one of our differential assets when preparing proposals.
Some old presentations are still available:
- WAM v1 for stakeholders - Nov 2001
- Christmas convention - Dec 2001
- WAM v2 Christmas convention - Dec 2002
JSF would start gaining traction later. In 2003 we discontinued WAM as JSF became the community path and our core business was not framework development.
